This idillic photograph taken in Crumlin during the summertime with the river
flowing slowly by in 1943 would make you forget that we were still at war.
On the left is Molly Christie who was one of ten children and beside her is
Emmily Hanlon while in front are the McDowell twins Peter & Douglas.

If you reconise this chap, chances are you spent more time talking to him
in a mirror than face to face. Yes, it's local barber Colin McCluney. An expert
with the sissors, he was also known to turn his hand to drawing - producing
some outstanding pictures.

This is Joan Mailey daughter of Emily Mailey nee Prichard with what looks
like a flower in her hair in the 1920's, the Prichards had lived in a cottage
on the bridge at Crumlin now long gone. Joan eventually went to live in Australia
where she got married and became Mrs Joan Riha, she also became a nursing
Sister one of her loves her other love was motorbikes.
